Understood is a mental health practice built on one simple belief: that feeling understood is where healing begins.
But understood by whom? First, by someone else. And then, slowly, by yourself. It is the beginning of safety, connection, and change.
Understood creates spaces for people to slow down, notice what they're feeling, understand the patterns they keep returning to, and build a more honest relationship with themselves.
For some, this happens through individual therapy. For therapists, it may look like peer learning, workshops, or reflective spaces around therapist identity. Through workshops, support groups, and facilitation, Understood also works with communities and organizations looking to bring this kind of work into shared spaces.
The work is humanity-first, experiential, relational, and rooted in the belief that all human experiences deserve understanding.

I’m Kashish Kataria, the person behind Understood.
I connected with the mental health space from a young age, out of both curiosity and personal experience. Over time, this grew into an interest in understanding people, leading to seeing the human in everyone.
I create spaces where people can feel seen, safe, and free, whether through therapy, writing, workshops, or community-driven spaces. My work is rooted in relationship, honesty, spontaneity, creativity, and creating experiences that feel alive while still held with safety and reliability.
In my private practice, I blend Gestalt, Existential, Relational, and Somatic approaches to help people move out of their heads and into their lives, while also building spaces for peer learning, reflection, creativity, and conversations around mental health and human experience.

My approach focuses on the here and now. We explore what different parts of you want, while staying connected to your body and emotions. Some sessions are reflective, helping you notice patterns and make sense of your feelings, while others are more experiential, letting you try things out and see what shifts.
